Check out my friend Shira's new video. She's gonna blow up real soon. You heard it here first.
The video is ... meh.
But I dig Mya anyway so here you go.
This is by far the strangest show I've ever been to. Some of you may remember Amel from Groove Theory back in 1995. They had a huge hit called "Tell Me". What you may not know is that she's had a somewhat successful solo career for the past 7 years. Her record company has a website with a fan forum that apparently she is waaaay into. She reads and posts and interacts with all of them to the point where she knows most of them by name and some of them by face. She spent a lot of time referencing and thanking all the website folks. She even went into the audience a couple of times to hug and take pictures with them. The only problem was sometimes it was in the middle of a song. Someone posted a Youtube video of one of her songs. Go to about 2:10 and you'll see that she can't really hit the same notes that she does on her albums.
Under my um-ber-ella...
ella... ella... ay... ay... ay...

Oh yeah, and don't forget about the naked silver paint section (2:25). Can't be mad at that.
Jay-Z completely phoned in the rap. Probably got some good $$$ for only 8 bars.
He was on a radio show the other day and gave a sneak peek at the rest of the album and I must say, I like it a lot. Perry is a genius, on a whole other level than the rest of us. Give it a listen, and check out the video which is another glimpse into the weird world where Perry lives.
Album drops May 29th.

I stumbled upon this artist while searching thru iTunes for something else. I tell you, the voice and spirit of a 1960's Etta James has been reborn in the body of an alcoholic, manic-depressive, tatted and pierced British jazz singer named Amy Winehouse. If you know me, then you know how I just love an outta control chick. But the voice and the songs are what I really care about. (and btw, I know Etta James is still alive, but you know what I mean!)
The kicker to this whole post is that she just played Joe's Pub in NYC on Tuesday night (photo above is from that show) and I MISSED IT! The reason being that I only just discovered her yesterday. I'm so heated because her gig calendar goes up to the next 3 months and there are no more listings for anywhere in the US, much less right in my backyard like a couple of nights ago. Where's my Delorean??? I have to go back. Way back... to Tuesday!
Check out the song that first grabbed me:
Now check out some of her videos on Youtube:
